Interpreter Services

SJDHHS coordinates American Sign Language (ASL) – English and Langue des Signes Quebecoise (LSQ) – French Interpreter services across province. We provide interpreting services on behalf of the government of New Brunswick; specifically for the departments of Social Development and Post-Secondary Training and Labour (PETL). We also coordinate services for the private sector on a fee for services basis.Social Development provides services under the contract of New Brunswick Visual Language Interpreter Services (NBVLIS). The types of services include, but are not limited to the following: medical, legal, counselling, social service, employment (application, interviews & crisis intervention), and education (parent teacher meetings where the parent is deaf)

PETL provides services under Training, Employment and Support Services (TESS) provide services for post-secondary studies, job interviews on the job training and crisis intervention.Private Sector services may also be coordinated by a fee for service. This means that the organization, employer or government department, other than mentioned above is responsible for payment of the service. The deaf consumer does not need to organize payment of these services as we will facilitate the confirmation of assignment and payment.
